ONLY Hard Chrome—NOT Flash Chrome!
Hydraulic cylinder
rods wear with use. When the surface is marred, the result is seal damage
and leakage. It’s a labor intensive process to hard chrome a new surface.
It takes about a week under normal conditions.
And the result
is unsurpassed.
- The old chrome
is stripped off by electrolysis.
- The rod is precision
ground to a smooth surface.
- The rod is then
inserted into the Chrome tank where Chrome is slowly applied by electrolysis.
It takes approximately 3 hours per thousandth inch.
- The rod is removed
from the tank and seasoned for 8-12 hours. The new surface is a dull
gray.
- The rod is then
polished to a high gloss, precision finish.
